Your Project Could Receive Up To $10,000

What would you do if you could get $10,000 to make the community of River Falls better?

The River Falls Community Foundation (RFCF) is now accepting applications for its second Big Idea Grant.

Who can apply?

  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Groups*
  • Businesses*
  • Troops*
  • Individuals*

*Must have a 501(c)3 as a fiscal agent or partner

What are we looking for?

Any innovative community-minded project that fits one or more of these criteria:

  • Enhances quality of life
  • Strengthens community connections
  • Builds community pride
  • Makes life more enjoyable for residents and visitors
  • Addresses an environmental concern
  • Helps underserved citizens

Midnight, April 30, 2019

If you’re looking for help starting your own business or doing a fundraiser, we wish you luck but this is not the grant program for you.

2018 Big Idea Grant Winner

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin – St. Croix Valley Region received the first Big Idea Grant from RFCF to establish a revenue stream for the organization through Sporting World, a used sporting goods store at 707A North Main Street.  Sporting World offers reduced pricing on new and used sporting goods for all.

About Your Speaker:

Gary Kelsey has 42 years of experience within the non-profit, government and education sectors. Prior to beginning his consulting work, Gary held several staff positions within a variety of nonprofit organizations. As an organizational development consultant, Gary has provided non-profit board development, program development, strategic planning, fundraising, collaboration, team-building, qualitative research, leadership coaching and other organizational development assistance and training to over 300 non-profit, philanthropic, education and government organizations.

Dr. Kelsey is currently Senior Core Faculty and Residency Coordinator in the School of Public Policy and Administration at Walden University.  Formerly, Gary was a Professor and Program Director of the MA in Philanthropy and Development Program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. In the past, he has also taught courses and seminars at the University of St. Thomas, Concordia University and St. Cloud State University. Gary holds a B.A. Degree in Social Work from St. Cloud State University and an M.A. in Human and Health Service Administration from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.  In 2001, Gary completed a Doctorate of Education in Leadership degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

 


 

River Falls Community Foundation Mission

The River Falls Community Foundation (RFCF) serves the greater River Falls, Wisconsin area as a community fund that seeks to attract and develop community and philanthropic assets that will enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in the area. RFCF accomplishes its mission by:

  • Building a community of donors – encouraging residents and others to invest in the community by contributing towards and establishing endowment funds;
  • Offering donors simplicity and flexibility in charitable giving, maximum tax advantages and the knowledge that their gift will benefit our community in perpetuity;
  • Accumulating, managing and growing the endowed funds wisely;
  • Directing the income from the endowments to fund effective programs that maintain and enhance the community’s quality of life.
  • Initiating, promoting and supporting ways that stimulate the further development of our community’s livability.

History: The River Falls Community Foundation was formed in 1999 as an affiliate fund of the St. Croix Valley Foundation. Since its inception, it has funded many projects in River Falls and its assets have grown substantially.

Impact: The River Falls Community Foundation provides funding in the areas of education, human services, civic projects, youth, and environment.
