Cooked 2 Serve
Local Donations Provide Food For Local Families In Need
This program of the Northwest Alliance Community Foundation provides frozen, ready-to-heat meals to families in Polk County. The objective of Cooked2Serve is to provide nutrient dense meals to families AND support local restaurants and farmers. Food items, soups, and pan dinners are purchased from local restaurants precooked, frozen, and ready-to-heat at home.
Cooked2Serve began during the pandemic (2020) to obtain supplemental meals for families AND support owners and staff of restaurants affected by the economic downturn. Meals were delivered to Frederic Schools to augment aid to families. Meals continue to be delivered every other week to local schools.
Cooked2Serve is growing -- meals are now also delivered to Community Referral Agency, a domestic abuse shelter in Milltown. Partnering continues with Farm Table Foundation in Amery, Natural Alternative Food Coop in Luck, and Cafe Wren in Luck. These suppliers source ingredients for Cooked2Serve meals from local farmers and growers.
