In January, the St. Croix Valley Foundation (SCVF) received a $5,000 grant to the Sterbenz-Ryan Scholarship Fund. The grant comes from the M&J Employee Impact Fund of the Eau Claire Community Foundation (ECCF).

“This grant will directly benefit students in our region who want to continue their education but might be facing challenging life circumstances or financial constraints,” said Heidi Herron, SCVF Grants and Scholarship Officer.

The M&J Employee Impact Fund allows employees of Market & Johnson to contribute funds that the company matches. Employees make recommendations about which organizations to support, and those recommendations are reviewed by the Impact Fund Committee, then approved by Market & Johnson’s Board of Directors and the ECCF’s Board of Trustees.

Since 2019, The M&J Employee Impact Fund has contributed a total of $23,500 to the Sterbenz-Ryan Scholarship.

“We’re so grateful to the M&J Employee Impact Fund for helping us honor the legacy of Richard Sterbenz and Martin Ryan, who wanted to give kids like themselves a shot at a life they never had,” said Herron.
